Transparent olive green, composed of iron, magnesium, glauconite, celadonite, chromic oxide, & volcanic clay; good in oils & tempera paint. Renaissance artists used this terre verde for flesh tones & verdaccio (underpainting); da Vinci used this technique in painting the Mona Lisa.
AKA: Bohemian earth, burnt green earth, green earth, pistachio, terre verte.
