FRANKINCENSE (
Boswellia spp.): Gum resin found in small droplets or ‘tears’, used in ancient times for incense, shellac additive, and in scribal arts as a gum Arabic substitute. Frankincense was one of the three gifts brought by the Wise Men to Bethlehem, indicating how much this resin was venerated at that time.
