Policies, Terms, and Conditions
SATISFACTION GUARANTEED: We are a small company so we must fight harder
to build a good customer base. If you have issues with anything purchased
from Griffin Dyeworks & Fiber Arts, just return product within 30 days
of purchase for refund or exchange. We'll find a way to make things right.
MAILING LISTS: We never sell or loan our mailing list, so you can
feel safe trusting us with your own plus friend's addresses. We may occasionally
use another mailing list for a one-time attempt to reach more interested fiber
artists. However, we do not have the funds to maintain a dead list, so we
drop any unresponsive addresses.
ORDERING
ORDER ONLINE: We have a secured website where you can fill a shopping
cart and place an order. This works just like browsing around a store in person.
Everything in your shopping cart will be clearly added up, including shipping
charges, so you can see a total at the bottom of the page. You have not committed
yourself so far. You can decide to buy only a few items, and remove items
from your cart. You can fill a shopping cart, decide not to buy anything,
and empty the cart. When you hit the final button, then your purchase come
to us. Even then, if you have second thoughts, email us.
ORDER BY MAIL: Fill out our order form or just use a plain sheet of
paper. PRINT everything clearly, because even the loveliest handwriting
is not always readable. Be sure to include full name, complete address, and
phone number. Your email address is handy, too, for instant communication
if we have a question. Make a list of items you wish to buy (you are still
printing clearly, right?). Remember to add tax if living in California. Over-estimate
shipping costs so your order is not delayed while we wait for that extra payment.

RE-ORDERS: When dealing with animals, the fleece or hair can be very
different from one shearing to the next. So be certain to order as much as
you need the first time around.
ADDING TO ORDER: Please just make an additional order, rather than
modify a previous order. It is much easier than opening up a package that
is ready to be shipped.
PAYING FOR ORDER
DO NOT SEND CASH! Do not make it easy for thieves! Mail-order businesses
get targeted because their orders may contain cash. Griffin Dyeworks is not
yet set up to accept credit cards on a secured basis. We heartily suggest
one of the following payment methods instead:
SHIPPING
We will ship your purchases by the fastest and cheapest method possible,
which will usually be UPS. Shipments are made once a week unless it is a rush order. Please do not email us for an update the day after your order. Small orders may be mailed. UPS cannot deliver
to a post office box.
GUARANTEED DELIVERY usually isn't. Neither the US Postal Service nor
UPS will guarantee specific delivery times. Not even for Priority Mail (go
figure!). Delivery can vary depending on location. Talk to us if you need
delivery for a certain date.
LOST or DAMAGED ORDERS
MISSING PACKAGE? Once we have sent a package, we contact you with
the shipping date. Do not wait more than 3 weeks to report a missing package.
If sent by UPS or by USPS, we'll have a tracking number to help locate the
package.
DAMAGED IN TRANSIT: If package is obviously damaged, DO NOT ACCEPT
IT. If damage is noticed after opening package, save box and all packaging
to show to the carrier. Griffin Dyeworks will exchange damaged goods for the
same item only if you have filed a damage report with the carrier. Without
this paperwork, we cannot replace a damaged item.
REPLACING GOODS: Merchandise found to be in bad condition must be
returned to us for exchange within 30 days of the date on the invoice. We
cannot refund money on damaged goods, but will replace it or issue credit
for other merchandise.
RETURNING MERCHANDISE
RETURNS and REFUNDS: Griffin Dyeworks & Fiber Arts' liability
is limited to refund, replacement or credit for merchandise, if submitted
within 30 days of date on invoice. Refunds by check only. If we made the mistake,
we'll pay for shipping. Contact us first, before sending anything back. If
there is no error but you just don't like what you ordered and want to return
it, you pay for shipping and insurance.
UNUSED MERCHANDISE: You may return merchandise within 30 days of date
on invoice if it is unused & undamaged. We will exchange it or give you
credit toward other merchandise. Be sure to pack merchandise well for return
shipment, including all instructions, paperwork & include the invoice.
If we cannot resell it, there will be no refund. For your own protection,
insure the package. This does not apply to books, videos, or CDs unless found
to be defective. Do not return a package C.O.D.; it will be refused.
PRODUCT PROBLEMS: Contact us as soon as anything is found to be defective
or if something was delivered in error. We will promptly replace it or issue
credit for something else. But you must tell us within 30 days. Contact us
to arrange return shipping.

INSURANCE: Griffin Dyeworks will not automatically insure your order
and is not responsible for any loss or damage in shipping. Be sure to add
insurance, especially if requesting 1st or 4th class US postal shipments.
Always add insurance if returning a package since we cannot accept a damaged
package without insurance.
CALIFORNIA SALES TAX: Residents of California must add 8.25% sales
tax on merchandise total. Do not add sales tax to insurance or shipping and
handling.
GIFT CERTIFICATES: This is the ultimate gift, because the delighted
recipient gets to pick anything within your spending limit from our catalog
of goodies. It works this way: you tell us how much you'd like to spend (keep
shipping & handling in mind) and send us the money as indicated under
"PAYMENT." We make up a beautiful Griffin Dyeworks & Fiber Arts
gift certificate, then Bjo does some nice calligraphy on the names, add your
message and a little gift from us, then send it off. The Certificate can be
sent to you or directly to the recipient. This is the perfect way to give
a fiber artist just what they want!
PRICING and AVAILABILITY: Catalog prices subject to change. We get
merchandise from many sources worldwide, which means that getting some of
it at all gets rather interesting. If there people are shooting at each other,
few are interested in packing dyes. Sometimes natural hazards interfere; it's
a safe bet that the floods in the Dominican Republic will soon affect the
price & availability of logwood, fustic & other dyestuffs. The manufacturer
or processor may simply stop making that product, often without notice. It
makes for exciting times! Unfortunately, it may also mean a raise in our prices.
We will try to tell you about these changes, which may entail sending another
check or PayPal payment.
CATALOG QUESTIONS: The only way Griffin Dyeworks & Fibers Arts
can grow is with your help. We like to know more about what you need. Tell
us what you want, interesting things you've found at crafts or fiber shows
(get an address!), and suggest friends to us. Are you new to our website &
catalog? To get a printed catalog mailed to you, reply by sending a card or
letter, or email us. If you have dealt with us before, do you have any complaints?
Compliments? What products would you like to see in this catalog? We really
appreciate your input so we can continue to become a better business.
DYE QUESTIONS? We will try to help if you give details and send samples
of the problem. Thank you for your business! W will do our very best to deserve

SHIPPING and HANDLING
PACKAGING: Most dyes and chemicals are packaged in zip-lock plastic
bags, sometimes double-bagged for safety (red sandalwood extract is a major
escape artist!) A few items are packaged in high density polyethylene lidded
jars or bottles for safety reasons or to prevent leaks. All packaging is labeled
with contents, and any necessary warnings.
SHIPMENTS: We will try to ship within a week of receipt of the order,
via USPS Priority Mail, with Delivery Confirmation. Blue Label (2nd day UPS)
or Federal Express are also available for an extra fee. UPS must have a home
address; it does not deliver to a PO or FPO address. Please include your home
phone number or email address in case of any need to contact you about delivery.
SHIPPING and POSTAL RATES: Shipping fee for continental USA delivery
is a flat rate based on the purchase total (not including applicable tax.)
Minimum shipping fee is $6.00 because it costs that much to wrap a package
and take it to the post office. So if your purchase totals $48.76, then your
shipping fee to any continental USA address is $9.00. Certain restrictions
apply to shipments outside the continental US, so please contact us for delivery
rates. Canadian customers are responsible for their own brokerage or import
fees.
INSURANCE: Griffin Dyeworks will not automatically insure your order
and is not responsible for any loss or damage in shipping. Be sure to add
insurance, especially if requesting 1st or 4th class US postal shipments.
DELIVERY: Please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery before getting worried
about it. If you have a project coming up and need faster delivery, we will
do our best to help. Rush orders are expensive, so try to plan ahead $25.00
extra assures delivery within days of your order.

LOST PACKAGES: Do not wait more than a month to inform us that your
package never arrived. After 4 weeks, call or email to inquire about shipping,
then file with your shipper. UPS takes far less time than the USPS to track
a lost package.
SHIPPING REFUNDS: If we made the mistake, we pay for return shipping,
otherwise, you pay for the shipping.
RETURNS: All returns must be made within 30 days of purchase or be
subject to a 25% restocking charge. We will not accept returns of special
made-up orders unless the problem is our error.
PERSONAL PICKUP: No walk-ins because we do not live in a business
zone.
